Presenting our little animation film, accepted into the 2016 Philadelphia Latino Film Festival. Posting it for your viewing pleasure on this midsummer’s eve. Thank you and enjoy the video animation.
Robert Campbell aka The Chocolate Alchemist is the only bean-to-bar chocolatier in Philadelphia, and commissioned Noise Soul Cinema / Joshua Mallory to bring his idea of an explorer searching the jungles of Peru for the perfect something. The explorer is stricken by lightning and is absorbed into the jungle floor, but his story is not over.
The film was made by a crew of two, entirely in the jungles and green screened restaurant corridors of Philadelphia (Belmont Plateau and Sazon Byob). Props were made of ample papier-mâché, wild foraged city branches and cacao tree look alike leaves (thanks to the native paw paw tree), cacao shell bits, super glue, and melted cacao – fruit pods, headpieces, forest floors. The building dominated much of the production, and lifelike and custom props to withstand rough and tumble shoots were the rewards.
We got a little creative for the love of real chocolate.
